Thought it was about time to right a report about a ride as I have not done this for a while.
Club rides have become increasingly popular over the course of this year and this report is from the steady group ride.
Martin P called the route for tonight with both the steady and fast groups taking the same route. We kicked off by rolling out towards Burnbridge and up Brackenthwaite Lane, which is always good for getting the legs and lungs going early on in a ride. We climbed to the Otley Road, where we took a left and descended very swiftly down Leathley Bank to Pool. Jacko’s chain hopped off at one point, but was quickly fixed and we were all on our way through Castley.
Instead of taking the obvious turn to Weeton we headed over the A658 in to Huby before crossing the A658 once more to go under the railway and into Weeton. The pace was fairly swift for the steady group on the run across Kearby, where we turned left and climbed Barrowby Bank, before turning left again towards Kirkby Overblow, along Walton Head Lane and down to the Black Swan at Burnbridge for a well deserved pint.
A great 25 mile route, with an average of just over 16mph.
