A new record turnout of 20 showed up at St Aidens in glorious sunshine including new riders Tim W, Craig, and Dan. Welcome all.
Duncan, Ronnie and Karl had already done a 28 mile loop to Summerbridge and arrived back just in time for Malcolm to shout “Bagby” and off we went. Turns out he meant Beningborough . We headed out via Knaresborough and Boroughbridge before turning south to Gt Ouseburn and then crossing over the Aldwark toll bridge where the attendant looked genuinely pleased to see us. He likes cyclists despite the fact we cross for free. The warm weather and flat roads kept the pace and morale high and we arrived at the farm shop just before their 10 am opening time. Despite this and the sheer number of us the ladies coped admirably and we all enjoyed great cake and coffee.
The route back took us via Cattal, Boston Spa, Clifford, Thorner, Sicklinghall and K’by Overblow. A few of us suffered a bit in the heat towards the end (cue sunburnt arms/legs) but it was a great ride in great weather. Main ride was 61 miles at approx 17 mph av.
