15 of us met at St. Aidans. We rolled out of Harrogate via the usual Burnbridge/Kirkby Overblow route. Having narrowly avoided a head on collision with 4 horses, we turned towards Wetherby with a brisk pace and in formation. The poor condition of the roads didn’t result in any accidents but Martin P had his (Rapha) water bottle jump ship and Nick’s rear light did the same.
Onto the old A1 and we all got into single file for some high speed thru’n’off which went very well. We did lose a couple of riders but in future the group policy will be to turn round at either end (B’bridge or Wetherby r’bouts) and head back to pick up anyone left behind. So if you lose the wheel in front please carry on – the group will come back and get you. A gentle ride back through Arkendale and the customary sprint up Knaresborough Hill (honours to Chris M, Malcolm and Mathew B) & a final pint of Guinness rounded off a fantastic ride.
My stats were 38 m at 18 mph av.
