Bolton Abbey – 15th May 2011

Well there were six of us out today including new members Craig and Mark.  Welcome to you both.

After a brief disscusion we decided to head out to Bolton Abbey.  We set off from Harrogate through Beckwithshaw and up to Swinsty and Timble with the wind pushing against us all the way.  We climbed up onto Askwith Moor and then down to Askwith with Paul trying to beat his 49mph record.  We then climbed up to Beamsley Beacon and then down towards Bolton Abbey to the tea room.

After refreshments we headed back towards Ilkley and Otley through Beamsley and Askwith.  We then went up to Leathley, Pool, Castley and Weeton before heading into Kirkby Overblow where we all went our seperate ways home. Between 55 and 60 miles and an average of 15 mph with 3000 ft of climbing. The rain held off, just about anyway.

A good ride today thanks to all who took part. Lets hope the lads doing the Etape du Dales are having a good day aswell.
