About Cappuccino Cycling Club

The Cappuccino Cycling Club has been established by a group of cycling friends living in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Our aim is to enjoy road cycling and to share our experiences with like-minded individuals.  Along the way we will also be keen to share with you some of our favourite cafe stops in the Harrogate area, as cycling is not all about simply getting fit – it can also be a very sociable activity!

We are primarily road cyclists (drop-bar) and a typical run out will involve a route from Harrogate which will normally be around 50 miles on our Sunday Club Run, and most of the time does involve stopping off at a cafe to recharge our batteries with coffee and cakes.  Don’t worry if you think you are too slow, we always wait for the slowest rider, but to give you an idea of our speeds we normally ride at an average of around 15mph.

We normally ride three times a week on a Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and meeting details are:

Meeting point is outside St Aidan’s School, Oatlands Drive, Harrogate.

Sunday morning at 8.30am

Tuesday evening at 7.30pm

Thursday evening at 7.30pm

We have also started a Ladies section who will initially ride once a week on a Saturday at 8.30am, meeting at St Aidan’s School.

We also meet on the first Friday of every month in the Swan on the Stray in Harrogate from 7.30pm for a few beers and to discuss anything cycling or club related.

The Cappuccino Cycling Club is also affiliated to British Cycling.

Thanks for your note – we will take a look at your site. I must admit though that a few of us are regulars at the Belveder Bike Hotel in Riccione, which is a great hotel.

  5. Hi all,
Moving to Harrogate in April from Oxford, but will be working in Leeds (Chapel Allerton). I fancy cycling to work a few times a week but don’t fancy the A61. Has anyone used any alternative routes? If so how long will it roughly take sat average speed is 13mph.

    Cheers

    • Hi Aamir,
If you are moving to Harrogate and working in Leeds, then you are going to have to use the A61, but only for a small stretch. A good route would be to leave Harrogate and head for Kirkby Overblow. From there drop down to the A61 until you get to Harewood Bridge, where you turn right towards Otley. After about 1/2mile turn left towards Weardley. You can then follow Eccup Lane and King Lane into Alwoodley, where you can then head towards Chapel Allerton. I would allow about 1.5 – 2 hours for the trip.
Good luck with the move and hope to see you on one of our club rides when you move up?

  8. Hi,

Please could you give me an average distance covered on your Tue/Thu rides. I have recently moved to the area and am looking to get some good mile in.

    • Hi James, we normally ride about 25-30miles on an evening. We also try to mix it up as well. Hilly sometimes, flat and fast others. Sign up to our Facebook page for more ride info.

  9. I like your site and hope to get my Colorado,USA version up to your level. We have a few little hills here so the riding is different, probably a little less rain but a little more snow (right now). The picture on my site is Mt Evans as seen from Denver. There is a road all the way to the top, at about 14,200 ft., and it is a frequent ride location for the locals here in Denver.
